Reading the Data

The data sheet shows the information we collected on each system with three bet and win rates. It is organized in groups of win and bet percents for comparison of the various systems across different play types, followed by average results from all the tests. At the bottom, there are two other shorter groups, with win rates of 30% and 50%; these compare our assumption of a typical bettor (undisciplined, 53% win rate), a representation of a generic handicapper with a win-centric money management system (focused, 58% win rate), and a player with JR Tips picks and money management system (streak, 62% win rate). The data provided is as follows:

Win%: The percent chance of any given game in any given season being a win.

Bet%: The amount of the bankroll bet each week.

Style: The management system used.

Low: The lowest result of all the seasons.

Avg: The average percent of the starting bankroll you ended up with (note that this is not a good statistical analysis of a system, as it tends to follow high results).

Med: The median percent of the starting bankroll you ended up with.

High: The highest result of all the seasons.

Excellent: The percent of seasons that resulted in excellent returns - over 500% of the starting bankroll.

Great: The percent of seasons that resulted in great returns - over 200% of the starting bankroll.

Good: The percent of seasons that resulted in good returns - over the starting bankroll.

Poor: The percent of seasons that resulted in poor returns - less than the starting bankroll.

Bad: The percent of seasons that resulted in bad returns - less than half the starting bankroll.

Flop: The percent of seasons that flopped - ending with less than 20% of the starting bankroll.

Wins: The percent of seasons that won money.

Losses: The percent of seasons that lost money.

Rate: A point scale for the test (each excellent season is 5 points, great is 2, good 1, poor -1, bad -2, flop -5).
